Fridge Wrap vs. Paint: The Easy Way to Update Your Refrigerator

An old, scratched or plain white fridge can make the whole kitchen look dated, but replacing a working appliance is expensive. Most people consider two ways to give it a new look: painting it or wrapping it in vinyl. Here is how they compare.

Painting a fridge

Appliance paint can give a durable solid color, but it is a real project. You need to empty and move the fridge, sand and degrease the doors, mask off seals and handles, apply several coats in a well-ventilated space and wait for the paint to cure. The result is permanent, a mistake means sanding and starting again, and you're limited to solid colors.

Wrapping a fridge

A vinyl wrap is applied like a large sticker: clean the doors, peel, stick and trim. There's no sanding, no fumes and no drying time.

  • Any design. Not only solid colors, but also landscapes, florals, wood and marble looks and 3D illusions.
  • Protected print. Our wraps are printed on Oracal or Avery vinyl with a protective lamination against scratches, UV fading, splashes and grease.
  • Removable. When you want a change or you move out, the wrap peels off without damaging the surface underneath, which makes it a good fit for renters. (Each wrap is single use.)
  • Matte or glossy. Choose the finish at no extra cost.
  • Hides wear. A wrap covers minor scratches and discoloration on the doors. Deep dents will still show through the vinyl.

Which should you choose?

If you own your fridge and want a permanent solid color, paint can work. If you want a design, a quick result or the freedom to change your mind later, a wrap is the easier choice. Every order also includes a free test sample, so you can try the vinyl on a hidden spot before you install.
